What is BRIDGING?

Bridging is a formal ceremony marking the transition from one level of Cub Scouting to the next. Think of it much like a graduation, but with more adventure and excitement! Cub Scouts typically bridge from:

  • Lions to Tigers

  • Tigers to Wolves

  • Wolves to Bears

  • Bears to Webelos

  • Webelos to Arrow of Light aka AOL

WHAT HAPPENS AT A BRIDGING CEREMONY?

The ceremony is typcally a fun, family-friendly event. It often times includes:

  • Recognition of Achievemens/Rank Advancements - The scouts are recognized for their hard work and accomplishments in their current rank.

  • Summertime Announcements - Since bridging usually occurs just prior to summer, discussions on summertime events will be announced to keep your scout active throughout the summer

  • Bridging - The Scouts physically “bridge” from one level to the next. This involves the Scout starting off dressed in the uniform of their current rank. They will then take off the hat, neckerchief and slide, cross the bridge, and receive their new rank hat, neckerchief, and slide. New Arrow of Lights have the option of what hat and neckerchief they would want to wear and this is typically when they name their patrol in frot of the entire Pack!

  • Refreshments and Celebration - A chance to celebrate the Scouts and their progress

Why is bridging important?

Bridging marks a significant milestone in your child’s Scouting journey. It celebrates their accomplishments, builds confidence, and reinforces the sense of community within the Pack.
