What is a recycle regatta?

A RECYCLE REGATTA is a fun event where kids race boats of their own creation using only recycled materials found at home. It allows for more tinkering and creativity. The race will be laid-back and great way for everyone to have fun.

Anyone can make a boat. Parental help is welcome.

  • Boats should be made from recyclable materials. See specifications below.

  • A straw will be provided at the race and will be used to blow on the sail of the boat down the track. Hands cannot touch the boat, unless the boat has tipped or sunk.

  • If the boat has tipped or sunk, it may be righted in the same spot it tipped over, not ahead.

  • The Cub Scout Motto is “Do Your Best”. Have fun! Enjoy the spirit of friendly competition and good sportsmanship with your peers.

RACE RULES

Boats will be raced against other boats in the same grade level powered by the builder’s own breath through a provided straw. The first boat to touch the other end of the gutter at the end wins the race. If race official determines a tie, the two boats will race again. Top boat in each grade level will face off to determine Overall Winner.
